What is Canine Hydrotherapy?
Canine hydrotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses the healing properties of water to improve your dog’s health, mobility, and fitness. Unlike regular swimming, hydrotherapy sessions at our dedicated pool are professionally supervised and tailored to your individual dog’s needs.
Our hydrotherapy pool provides a warm, controlled environment where dogs can exercise without the stress and strain placed on their joints during land-based activity. The buoyancy of water supports your dog’s body weight, reducing impact on joints while allowing them to move freely and naturally.
This combination makes hydrotherapy an ideal treatment for dogs recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, dealing with hip dysplasia, or simply needing to improve their overall fitness and cardiovascular health.

Benefits of Our Hydrotherapy Pool for Dogs
Improved Muscle Strength & Fitness
Our hydrotherapy pool provides non-weight-bearing exercise that builds muscle strength without stressing joints. Dogs can move freely in the water, engaging muscle groups that support joint stability and overall fitness. This is especially valuable for:
- Dogs recovering from surgery or injury
- Overweight dogs needing safe exercise
- Senior dogs with age-related muscle loss
- Dogs with joint conditions like hip dysplasia
Joint Health & Mobility
The warm water environment reduces inflammation, improves circulation, and promotes joint mobility. The buoyancy reduces impact on joints while allowing controlled movement and stretching. Many dogs show significant improvements in:
- Range of motion
- Flexibility
- Pain levels
- Ability to move naturally
Weight Management
Swimming in our hydrotherapy pool provides excellent cardiovascular exercise without the joint stress of land-based activity. Combined with proper nutrition, hydrotherapy helps overweight dogs achieve healthy weight loss while improving fitness. Dogs exercising in our pool typically experience:
- Safe, effective weight loss
- Improved cardiovascular fitness
- Increased confidence and happiness
- Better long-term health outcomes
Post-Surgery Recovery
Hydrotherapy is an ideal rehabilitation tool following surgery. The warm water supports healing, reduces inflammation, and allows safe exercise during the critical recovery period. Vets increasingly recommend pre-operative and post-operative hydrotherapy because:
- Dogs arrive at surgery in better physical condition
- Recovery is faster with fewer complications
- Return to normal activity happens more quickly
- Overall surgical outcomes improve significantly
Mental Health & Confidence
Beyond physical benefits, our hydrotherapy pool helps dogs emotionally. The warm, supportive environment builds confidence in nervous dogs, improves mood, reduces depression, and enhances overall wellbeing. Many owners report their dogs are:
- Happier and more energetic
- More confident and relaxed
- Better behaved at home
- Noticeably more comfortable
