Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Hydrotherapy
What is canine hydrotherapy?
Canine hydrotherapy involves using the therapeutic properties of water to help dogs recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, or maintain overall fitness. Swimming or exercising in water provides a low-impact workout that can improve muscle strength, joint mobility, and cardiovascular health.
How do I know if my dog needs hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy can benefit dogs of all ages and breeds, especially those recovering from surgery, experiencing mobility issues, or struggling with obesity. Consult your veterinarian to determine if hydrotherapy is appropriate for your dog's specific needs.
Are hydrotherapy sessions covered by pet insurance?
Some pet insurance policies may cover hydrotherapy sessions if they are prescribed by a veterinarian as part of a treatment plan. Check with your insurance provider to verify your policy's coverage.
What are your opening hours?
Hydrotherapy sessions are by appointment only. Please leave enough time before your appointment to toilet your dog, as additional cleaning charges may occur for toileting accidents in the hydropool.
How do I book a hydrotherapy session for my dog?
To book a hydrotherapy session, contact us by phone or email and our team will schedule an appointment at your convenience.
How do I get to the hydrotherapy pool?
Our hydropool is located across from Port St Mary Golf Pavillion and can be reached via car, bus or walking. The nearest bus stop is outside The Albert Pub and is then a 5 minute walk.
Access to the hydropool is to the left hand side of the garage, through a secure wooden gate.
Please leave your dog in your vehicle and check that the pool is available for your booked session, before bringing your dogs to the hydropool.
Can I stay with my dog during their hydrotherapy session?
We have seating available by the poolside so you can stay and watch. If we feel your presence by the pool is a distraction to your dog, we may ask you to step outside. As much as we love meeting new faces, please have minimal people attend the session. The pool area is small and overcrowding can easily occur.
Does my dog need to have a medical issue to use the pool?
Not at all! We also offer fitness & fun sessions. These focus on building confidence in your dog as well as helping to keep them fit and healthy.
How can I pay?
We accept both cash and card. Sessions can be booked and paid for in advance.
Please note that payment must be recieved before leaving.
Grooming

When is the grooming room open?
Our grooming room is by appointment only. Please leave enough time to toilet your dog before your appointment.
Where can I wait whilst my dog is being groomed?
Port St Mary is a beautiful village with a variety of sceneic walks, cafes and shops available.
Your groomer will advise on how long your dogs session may take and when you need to collect. Please be on time for collection, any delays may cause an unneccessary backlog for your groomer.

Emmi-pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning
How long does it take?
We recommend the first session to be an hour. This gives our staff time to examine your dogs teeth, gums and mouth for any potential issues as well as cleaning. Follow up sessions may occur at a 30 minute appointment.
How often will my dog need their teeth cleaning?
Once your first session is complete, we recommend following up with a 30 minute appointment every 6 months. We'll send you an email reminder when your next session is due.

Our teeth cleaning sessions are done in our Wellness Shop, Castletown. If you are a grooming client in Port St Mary, we may be able to do your dogs teeth alongside your grooming session, but this may not always be possible, so please try and book in advance.
